Renaissance Stained Glass
Stained Glass > Gallery > Australiana (1901-1910)

This is a genre specific to Australia coinciding with the federation and represents that moment the nation went mad for all things Australian. Typically it refers to the extremely complex pictorial motifs such as Rosella’s (pictured below) Kookaburra’s and Waratah’s (pictured below). All manner of native flora and fauna. In stained glass terms it is extremely complex as it is made up of large numbers of irregular and intricate, often small, pieces of glass. This genre doesn’t usually involve paintwork, although it can. It certainly represents some of the most labour intensive work in both design and creating the panel itself. For pricing purposes any “pictorial” design would fall into this category as extremely complex design (see landscape below).
